Infineon and Swoboda Revolutionize Automotive Current Sensing with High-Performance Sensor Modules for Electromobility

Infineon Technologies AG and Swoboda are working together to create advanced current sensors for electric vehicle use. By combining Infineon's top-of-the-line current sensor ICs with Swoboda's knowledge in developing sensor modules, they aim to meet the increasing demand for sensing solutions in hybrid and electric vehicles. This collaboration will speed up the introduction of high-performance current measurement solutions for popular automotive applications like traction inverters and battery management systems, as well as other important areas in the automotive industry.

One of these products, the Swoboda CSM510HP2, includes a current sensor module that is fully encapsulated and has a smaller size while still maintaining high performance. It uses the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC to provide precise sensing with an error rate of less than 2 percent. This module is made to easily integrate with the HybridPACK™ Drive G2, which is Infineon's automotive power module for electric vehicle traction inverters. This integration eliminates the need for external current sensors and allows for more compact traction inverters to be produced.

Klaus Lebherz, the Head of Business Development at Swoboda, stated that the new current sensors are revolutionary in terms of easy system integration. He mentioned that the combination of Infineon's sensor technology and Swoboda's injection molding expertise worked extremely well together.

Andrea Monterastelli, who leads the Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, stated that there is a strong need in the market for current sensing solutions that are high-performing, compact, and easy to integrate. He mentioned that their current sensor ICs, when combined with Swoboda's expertise, seamlessly fit into Infineon's HybridPack Drive G2, providing the most compact solution for hybrid and electric vehicles.

Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create new current sensing solutions that can be used for various power devices. They are also focusing on applications such as inverter DC link and high voltage battery management.
