Infineon and Swoboda Revolutionize Automotive Sensing with High-Performance Current Sensor Modules for Electromobility
Infineon Technologies AG and Swoboda are working together to create advanced current sensors for electric vehicles. By combining Infineon's top-notch current sensor ICs with Swoboda's experience in developing sensor modules, they aim to meet the increasing demand for sensing solutions in the automotive industry. This collaboration will result in faster development and production of current measurement solutions for electric and hybrid vehicles, including traction inverters and battery management systems, as well as other important automotive applications.
One of the products offered is the Swoboda CSM510HP2, which includes a current sensor module that is fully enclosed and has a smaller size without sacrificing performance. It utilizes the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC for accurate sensing with less than 2 percent error. The module is designed to seamlessly integrate with Infineon's HybridPACK™ Drive G2, a power module for traction inverters in electric cars. This integration removes the need for external current sensors, allowing for more compact traction inverters.
Klaus Lebherz, the Head of Business Development at Swoboda, stated that the new current sensors are leading the way in terms of making system integration easier. He mentioned that the combination of Infineon's advanced sensor technology and Swoboda's expertise in injection molding proved to be a great fit.
Andrea Monterastelli, who leads the Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, stated that the market is looking for current sensing solutions that are high-performing, compact, and easy to integrate. The current sensor ICs from Infineon, combined with Swoboda's expertise, seamlessly fit into Infineon's HybridPack Drive G2, providing the most compact solution for hybrid and electric vehicles.
Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create new current sensing solutions for various power devices. They are also focusing on applications such as inverter DC link and high voltage battery management.
