Infineon and Swoboda Revolutionize Current Sensor Technology for Electromobility with High-Performance Modules

Infineon Technologies AG and Swoboda have formed a partnership to create and sell advanced current sensor modules for use in automotive applications, particularly in hybrid and electric vehicles. This collaboration combines Infineon's top-quality current sensor ICs with Swoboda's experience in developing and producing sensor modules. The goal is to meet the increasing demand for sensing solutions in the automotive industry, especially for applications like traction inverters and battery management systems. This teamwork aims to speed up the production process for high-volume applications in the automotive sector.

One of the new products available is the Swoboda CSM510HP2, which includes a current sensor module that is fully enclosed and has a smaller size without sacrificing performance. It utilizes the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC to provide precise sensing with an error rate below 2 percent. This module is designed to seamlessly work with the HybridPACK™ Drive G2, a power module for traction inverters in electric vehicles made by Infineon. By integrating this module, there is no longer a need for separate external current sensors, allowing for more compact traction inverters on the market.

Klaus Lebherz, who is the Head of Business Development at Swoboda, mentioned that these new current sensors are raising the bar for simplified system integration. He highlighted that the combination of Infineon's advanced sensor technology and Swoboda's expertise in injection molding was a perfect fit.

Andrea Monterastelli, who leads the Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, stated that the market is looking for current sensing solutions that are high performing, compact, and easy to integrate. By combining Infineon's top-notch current sensor ICs with Swoboda's expertise, the HybridPack Drive G2 provides the most compact solution for hybrid and electric vehicles.

Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create new current sensing solutions that can be used with various power devices. These solutions are also being designed for applications such as inverter DC link and high voltage battery management.
