Infineon and Swoboda Revolutionize Electromobility with High-Performance Current Sensor Modules

Infineon Technologies AG and Swoboda are working together to create advanced current sensors for electric vehicles. This collaboration combines Infineon's top-of-the-line current sensor ICs with Swoboda's skills in developing and producing sensor modules. The goal is to meet the increasing demand for sensing solutions in the automotive industry, particularly in hybrid and electric vehicles. This partnership will expedite the release of high-performance current measurement solutions for major applications like traction inverters and battery management systems in the automotive sector.

One of the new products, the Swoboda CSM510HP2, has a compact current sensor module that maintains high performance. It uses the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC for precise sensing with an error rate below 2 percent. The module is designed to seamlessly work with the HybridPACK™ Drive G2, Infineon's automotive power module for electric vehicle traction inverters. This integration eliminates the need for additional external current sensors, making the traction inverters more compact than ever before.

Klaus Lebherz, Head of Business Development at Swoboda, stated that the new current sensors are groundbreaking in terms of easy system integration. He mentioned that the combination of Infineon's sensor technology and Swoboda's injection molding expertise was a perfect fit.

Andrea Monterastelli, who leads the Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, stated that there is a growing need in the market for current sensing solutions that are high-performing, compact, and easy to integrate. He highlighted that the integration of Infineon's current sensor ICs into HybridPack Drive G2 provides a very compact solution for hybrid and electric vehicles, thanks to the expertise of Swoboda.
