Infineon and Swoboda Partnership: Developing High-Performance Current Sensors for Electromobility Innovation
Infineon Technologies AG and Swoboda are working together to create advanced current sensors for electric vehicles. By combining Infineon's top-of-the-line current sensor ICs with Swoboda's experience in sensor module development, they aim to meet the increasing demand for sensing solutions in the automotive industry. This collaboration will speed up the release of high-volume applications like traction inverters and battery management systems for hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as other important automotive applications.
One of the new products, the Swoboda CSM510HP2, includes a current sensor module that is fully enclosed and has a smaller size while still maintaining high performance. It is built using the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC, allowing for precise sensing with an error rate of less than 2 percent. This module is specifically designed to seamlessly work with the HybridPACK™ Drive G2, which is Infineon's automotive power module for traction inverters in electric vehicles. By integrating this module, there is no longer a need for separate external current sensors, making it possible to create more compact traction inverters.
Klaus Lebherz, the Head of Business Development at Swoboda, mentioned that the new current sensors are setting higher standards for system integration. He stated that the combination of Infineon's sensor technology and Swoboda's injection molding expertise proved to be a perfect fit.
According to Andrea Monterastelli, who leads the Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, there is a growing need in the market for current sensing solutions that are high performance, compact, and easy to integrate. These solutions seamlessly integrate into Infineon's HybridPack Drive G2, providing a compact option for hybrid and electric vehicles. This is made possible through the use of Infineon's top-quality current sensor ICs and the expertise of Swoboda.
Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create new current sensing solutions for a variety of power devices. These solutions will be useful for applications such as inverter DC link and high voltage battery management.
