EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Elevate OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Devices: A New Era of Testing Excellence

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, the latest WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be combined with the latest testing features of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a wide range of devices, including LTE and 5G technologies up to 50 GHz. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all in one instrument. This collaboration allows EMITE's customers to accurately assess the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices in a comprehensive testing environment.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are well-equipped to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The collaboration is now focusing on incorporating test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as the IEEE 802.11be standard, is the latest advancement in Wi-Fi technology aimed at providing significantly higher data speeds compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). This new standard offers data rates in the tens of gigabits per second along with low latency to cater to the increasing need for ultra-high-definition video streaming, immersive virtual reality experiences, and augmented reality applications.

RedCap is a form of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, requires less energy, has simpler technology, and can connect to many devices. These features make it ideal for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's commitment to delivering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed satisfaction in enhancing their partnership with EMITE. This collaboration ensures that EMITE's clients can confidently use their devices for the most recent technologies, as their products have undergone thorough testing to meet strict standards of reliability and efficiency. This was made achievable by integrating Rohde & Schwarz's proven R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio.
