Enhancing Electronic Detonation Systems with Vishay’s TANTAMOUNT Solid Tantalum Chip Capacitors
Vishay's solid tantalum chip capacitors improve the performance of electronic detonation systems. TANTAMOUNT devices have a strong design and low 0.005CV DCL, along with rigorous testing standards to ensure reliable detonation in tough conditions.
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has released a new line of TANTAMOUNT surface-mount solid tantalum molded chip capacitors that are made for electronic detonation systems. These Vishay Sprague TX3 series capacitors have a strong mechanical design, low leakage current, and strict testing requirements, providing better performance and reliability compared to standard tantalum capacitors and MLCCs.
The capacitors that were introduced today have low DCL values of 0.005CV and a high energy density compared to other types of capacitors. This allows them to provide more energy for reliable ignition, making them well-suited for remote detonation systems in mining and demolition. These capacitors use tantalum anode technology and Vishay's high-quality dielectric formation to maintain stable electrical performance in harsh conditions.
The TX3 series capacitors are tested more rigorously than typical commercial capacitors to guarantee reliability. Each capacitor undergoes thorough testing, including surge current testing and two extra screenings to ensure consistent electrical performance across different batches. These capacitors are designed with a durable construction, with the capacitive element and lead frame protected by hard plastic resin. They have higher shock and vibration resistance compared to MLCCs, meeting MIL-STD-202 standards.
The TX3 series is available in two different case sizes: B (EIA 3528-21) and C (EIA 6032-28). These capacitors have a capacitance range of 10 µF to 100 µF and voltage ratings from 16 V to 25 V, with a capacitance tolerance of ± 10 %. The ESR of the devices ranges from 0.700 Ω to 2.3 Ω at +25 °C, with a ripple current of up to 0.438 A and the ability to operate at high temperatures up to +125 °C. The TX3 series features lead (Pb)-free terminations and is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and classified as Vishay Green.
The new solid tantalum capacitors are currently ready for sampling and production in both small and large quantities. It will take approximately 10 to 12 weeks to receive your order. To inquire about pricing, please reach out to a Vishay representative in your area.
