EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate to Elevate OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Devices

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for full compliance with LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap in addition to existing capabilities.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be paired with the newest testing features of the R&S CMX500 all-in-one signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a wide range of devices, including LTE, 5G NR frequencies up to 8 GHz, and millimeter wave frequencies up to 50 GHz, including the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all in one device. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers can accurately evaluate the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices in a comprehensive testing environment.

EMITE's improved OTA chambers are fully prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both existing and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of their collaboration involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The Wi-Fi 7 standard, also known as IEEE 802.11be, is the upcoming generation of Wi-Fi technology aimed at providing significantly higher data speeds compared to its predecessor, Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). With the capability to handle tens of gigabits of data per second and minimal delay, Wi-Fi 7 addresses the increasing need for streaming ultra-high-definition videos and supporting immersive virtual reality and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a more basic version of 5G that is much more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap is known for its moderate data speeds, minimal energy usage, simple design, and ability to connect to many devices. These features make it ideal for use in IoT applications.

The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. EMITE is looking forward to enhancing their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices that comply with the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction with the enhanced partnership with EMITE. By integrating the R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can trust that their devices have been thoroughly tested to ensure they meet strict standards for reliability and efficiency when deploying the latest technologies.
