Enhancing OTA Measurements: EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Devices

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced testing features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, and compliance with the latest WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used with the latest testing features of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester offers a wide range of testing capabilities for devices, supporting LTE, 5G NR FR1 frequency range up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave frequency range up to 50 GHz, including the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all in one instrument. Through this collaboration, EMITE's customers can effectively assess the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices in a comprehensive testing environment.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are equipped to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as IEEE 802.11be standard, is the latest advancement in Wi-Fi technology. It is specifically engineered to provide significantly higher data speeds compared to its predecessor Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). With the ability to transmit tens of gigabits of data per second and minimal delay, Wi-Fi 7 caters to the increasing need for high-quality video streaming, virtual reality experiences, and augmented reality applications.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, consumes less power, has simpler technology, and can connect to many devices. This makes it ideal for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

According to David A. Sánchez-Hernández, who is the CEO of EMITE, the company is dedicated to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. They are enthusiastic about upgrading their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow their customers to test devices that comply with the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership demonstrates their commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed satisfaction in deepening the partnership with EMITE. By integrating Rohde & Schwarz's R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can have confidence in deploying their devices for the newest technologies. This collaboration ensures that products have undergone rigorous testing to meet strict standards of reliability and efficiency.
