EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate to Support OTA Measurements on Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap: Enhancing Testing Capabilities for Next-Generation Wireless Technologies

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel one-box signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap, ensuring full compliance with the latest wireless technologies.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used in conjunction with the latest testing features of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester offers a wide range of testing capabilities for devices, supporting LTE, 5G NR FR1 up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave frequency range up to 50 GHz, including the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within a single instrument. Through this collaboration, EMITE's customers can assess the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices accurately in a comprehensive testing environment.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers have all the necessary equipment to conduct thorough tests for both present and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the inclusion of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as the IEEE 802.11be standard, is the upcoming Wi-Fi technology that is designed to provide significantly higher data throughput compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). It offers speeds of tens of gigabits per second and minimal delay, catering to the increasing need for ultra-high-definition video streaming, virtual reality, and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a more simplified version of 5G that is much cheaper than traditional 5G eMBB. RedCap is known for its moderate data speeds, energy efficiency, simplicity, and ability to connect to multiple devices, making it ideal for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, allowing customers to test the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership demonstrates EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who is the Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction with the increased level of partnership with EMITE. This collaboration ensures that EMITE's customers can confidently use their devices with the latest technologies, as their products have undergone rigorous testing to ensure they meet high standards of reliability and efficiency. This was achieved by integrating Rohde & Schwarz's R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio.
