EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Partner to Enhance OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap: Integrating the Latest Testing Capabilities

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the newest testing features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be paired with the cutting-edge testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a variety of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR FR1 up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave up to 50 GHz, with support for the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also has the ability to test non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within a single instrument. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers can benefit from a comprehensive testing environment to accurately evaluate the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's advanced OTA chambers are fully prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of testing capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as the IEEE 802.11be standard, is the latest advancement in Wi-Fi technology aimed at achieving very fast data transfer speeds that outperform the current Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax) standard. With the capability to handle tens of gigabits of data per second and minimal delay, Wi-Fi 7 addresses the increasing need for streaming high-definition videos, virtual reality experiences, and augmented reality applications.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was created in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G with a lower cost than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, uses less power, has simpler technology, and can connect to many devices. This makes it ideal for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. EMITE is thrilled to enhance their testing chambers by incorporating the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to expand their capabilities to include the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration highlights EMITE's commitment to delivering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed satisfaction in advancing the partnership with EMITE. This collaboration ensures that EMITE's clients can confidently use their devices with the latest technologies, as their products have undergone thorough testing to ensure they meet high standards of performance and reliability. This was made possible by integrating Rohde & Schwarz's R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio.
