EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate to Enhance OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Devices

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the newest testing features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap, enhancing the capabilities of OTA measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G technologies.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers are now compatible with the cutting-edge testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a variety of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR FR1 up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave frequency up to 50 GHz, along with the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all in one device. This partnership allows EMITE's customers to accurately evaluate the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices in a comprehensive testing environment.

EMITE has upgraded its OTA chambers to meet the demanding testing needs of both present and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of testing capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The IEEE 802.11be standard, also known as Wi-Fi 7, is the latest advancement in Wi-Fi technology. This new standard is specifically designed to provide significantly higher data speeds than its predecessor, IEEE 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6/6E). With the ability to handle tens of gigabits of data per second and offering low latency, Wi-Fi 7 is able to meet the increasing need for ultra-high-definition video streaming, as well as support immersive virtual reality and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It offers a more simplified version of 5G at a lower cost compared to the full 5G experience. RedCap provides moderate data speeds, energy efficiency, simplicity, and the capability to connect to a large number of devices. These features make it a popular choice for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, allowing customers to test devices based on the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership demonstrates EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed satisfaction in advancing their partnership with EMITE. By integrating the R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers, customers can have assurance that their devices meet rigorous testing standards for reliability and efficiency, allowing them to confidently deploy their products for the latest technologies.
