EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate to Support OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Devices

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz have partnered to assist with OTA measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap technology. This collaboration involves integrating the advanced testing features of the R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA measurement solutions. In addition to LTE, FR1, and FR2 support, the integration also ensures compliance with the latest WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be and 5G RedCap technology.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used with the latest testing features of the R&S CMX500 signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a wide range of devices, supporting cellular technologies like LTE, 5G NR in both the lower and higher frequency ranges, and the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies, including Wi-Fi 7, all in one device. Through this collaboration, EMITE's customers can now accurately assess the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices in a comprehensive testing environment.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers have all the necessary tools to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the addition of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The Wi-Fi 7 standard, also known as IEEE 802.11be, is the upcoming technology for Wi-Fi that offers significantly faster data speeds compared to its predecessor, Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). It is designed to support high data throughput of tens of gigabits per second with minimal delays, catering to the increasing need for ultra-high-definition video streaming, virtual reality, and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is much cheaper than 5G eMBB. RedCap is known for its medium data speed, low energy usage, simple design, and ability to connect to many devices. This makes it a popular choice for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, expressed a strong dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the company's decision to enhance their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices based on the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration demonstrates EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction with the enhanced partnership with EMITE. This collaboration ensures that EMITE's clients can confidently use their devices with the latest technologies, as they have undergone rigorous testing to ensure they meet the highest standards of reliability and efficiency. This is made possible through the integration of Rohde & Schwarz's proven R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio.
