EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate to Support OTA Measurements on Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Devices

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced testing features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel one-box signaling tester. This integration allows for not only LTE, FR1, and FR2 support, but also compliance with the latest WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used with the cutting-edge testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a variety of devices, including those using LTE and 5G NR technology in both lower and millimeter wave frequency ranges. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all in one device. By working together, EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz provide customers with a comprehensive solution for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE has improved its OTA chambers to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the addition of testing capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as the IEEE 802.11be standard, is the upcoming advancement in Wi-Fi technology. It is created to provide significantly higher data speeds than Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). With the ability to transmit tens of gigabits of data per second and minimal delay, Wi-Fi 7 addresses the increasing need for ultra-high-definition video streaming, virtual reality experiences, and augmented reality applications.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is more cost-effective than 5G eMBB. RedCap is known for its moderate data speed, energy efficiency, simplicity, and capability to connect to numerous devices, making it ideal for IoT uses.

The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. EMITE is pleased to announce the enhancement of their testing chambers with the addition of the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices based on the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who is the Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction in strengthening the partnership with EMITE. By integrating the R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers, customers can now have assurance that their products have undergone thorough testing to ensure they meet the highest standards of reliability and efficiency for the latest technologies.
