Enhancing Electronic Detonation Systems with Vishay’s TANTAMOUNT Solid Tantalum Chip Capacitors
Vishay's solid tantalum chip capacitors improve the performance of electronic detonation systems. The TANTAMOUNT devices have a strong design and low 0.005CV DCL, along with strict testing standards to guarantee reliable detonation in challenging conditions.
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has launched a new line of TANTAMOUNT surface-mount solid tantalum molded chip capacitors that are tailored for use in electronic detonation systems. The Vishay Sprague TX3 series capacitors are built with a strong mechanical design and have low leakage current (DCL) and strict testing standards, providing improved performance and reliability compared to regular tantalum capacitors and MLCCs.
The capacitors released today have a low DCL value of 0.005CV and a high energy density compared to other types of capacitors. This means they can deliver more energy for reliable ignition, making them well-suited for remote detonation systems in mining and demolition. The use of tantalum anode technology and Vishay's high-quality dielectric formation ensures consistent electrical performance even in tough conditions.
In order to guarantee dependability, TX3 series capacitors undergo stricter testing than typical commercial capacitors. Each capacitor is subjected to a surge current test and two additional screenings to ensure consistent electrical performance across different batches. The capacitors are protected by a hard plastic resin casing, providing a durable solution. Compared to MLCCs, they have higher shock (100 g) and vibration (20 g) resistance according to MIL-STD-202 standards.
The TX3 series is available in two case sizes, B and C, with capacitance ranging from 10 µF to 100 µF and voltage ratings from 16 V to 25 V. The devices have a capacitance tolerance of ± 10% and ESR values ranging from 0.700 Ω to 2.3 Ω at +25 °C. They can handle ripple currents up to 0.438 A and operate at high temperatures up to +125 °C. The TX3 series devices have lead (Pb)-free terminations, are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green.
You can now get samples and production quantities of the latest solid tantalum capacitors, with lead times of 10 to 12 weeks. For pricing information, please contact a Vishay representative in your area.
