Enhancing Electronic Detonation Systems with Vishay’s TANTAMOUNT Solid Tantalum Chip Capacitors: A Robust Design for Reliable Performance in Harsh Environments
Vishay's solid tantalum chip capacitors improve the performance of electronic detonation systems. TANTAMOUNT devices have a strong design and low 0.005CV DCL, along with strict testing standards to guarantee dependable detonation in challenging conditions.
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has released a new line of surface-mount solid tantalum molded chip capacitors that are specially made for electronic detonation systems. These Vishay Sprague TX3 series capacitors have a strong design, low leakage current, and undergo rigorous testing to ensure superior performance and reliability compared to regular tantalum capacitors and MLCCs.
The capacitors released today have low DCL values of 0.005CV, making them efficient at delivering energy for ignition. They are well-suited for remote detonation systems in mining and demolition applications due to their reliable discharge capabilities. These capacitors use tantalum anode technology and Vishay's high-quality dielectric formation to maintain stable electrical performance in harsh conditions.
In order to guarantee their reliability, TX3 series capacitors undergo more rigorous testing compared to standard commercial capacitors. Each capacitor is tested for surge current using standard methods, as well as two additional screenings for important electrical characteristics to minimize variations between production batches. The capacitive element and lead frame of the devices are protected by a tough plastic resin, ensuring durability. These capacitors have higher shock (100 g) and vibration (20 g) resistance compared to MLCCs, meeting MIL-STD-202 standards.
The TX3 series capacitors come in two different case sizes, B and C, with capacitance ranging from 10 µF to 100 µF and voltage ratings from 16 V to 25 V. The devices have a capacitance tolerance of ± 10%, ESR ranging from 0.700 Ω to 2.3 Ω at +25 °C, ripple current up to 0.438 A, and can operate at high temperatures up to +125 °C. These capacitors have lead-free terminations, are compliant with RoHS regulations, halogen-free, and are considered Vishay Green.
You can now request samples and order bulk quantities of the recently released solid tantalum capacitors. The lead times for these products are currently estimated to be between 10 to 12 weeks. For pricing information, kindly reach out to your Vishay representative in your area.
