Austrian Grand Prix Security Enhanced with Aaronia’s High-Speed Drone Detection System AARTOS: Ensuring Safety During Formula 1 Weekend in Spielberg

During the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Austrian Grand Prix 2024 in Spielberg, security teams utilized Aaronia's AARTOS High-Speed Drone Detection System to protect against unauthorized drone use. The safety of attendees, drivers, and staff was a key concern, leading to the deployment of this advanced system in a mobile Mercedes Sprinter. Detection of illegal drones is crucial at large events, and the AARTOS DDS system proved to be the most powerful option available.

Stephan Kraschansky, CEO of Aaronia Austria, mentions that they have encountered several drone sightings near no-fly zones, prompting them to intervene multiple times. While most incidents were resolved by simply warning the pilots, there were a few instances where they had to take control of the drones and safely land them to prevent any potential risks. Security officials also assisted in managing the drone pilots during these interventions.

To protect both spectators and drivers, measures were taken to prevent unauthorized drone use during the event. Throughout the weekend, there were multiple crashes involving Formula 1 cars on the track. The excitement peaked with George Russell winning the first race of the season for the Mercedes team, securing a victory while showing a happy expression.

The experts from Aaronia showcased a drone detection system that is fast, reliable, and effective. They also achieved a lap time of 7:14.29 in the Mercedes Sprinter, setting a new record for mobile drone detection systems at Spielberg. Their lap time was only 6:06.60 slower than the fastest lap driven by Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin during the race.
