Enhancing OTA Measurements: EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate on Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Testing

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz have partnered to provide support for OTA measurements on Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap. This collaboration involves integrating the latest test capabilities of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester into EMITE's OTA measurement solutions. This integration not only allows for LTE, FR1, and FR2 support, but also ensures compliance with the advanced WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used together with the cutting-edge testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester is able to test a wide range of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR in the FR1 frequency range up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave frequency range up to 50 GHz, along with the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also has the ability to test non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within a single instrument. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers will have a comprehensive setup for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE has upgraded its OTA chambers to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of this partnership involves exploring the addition of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as IEEE 802.11be standard, is the upcoming technology in Wi-Fi that is designed to provide extremely fast data speeds surpassing its predecessor, Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). It can handle tens of gigabits of data per second with minimal delay, catering to the increasing need for high-quality video streaming and immersive experiences in virtual and augmented reality.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, consumes less power, has simpler technology, and can connect to many devices. These features make it a popular choice for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. EMITE is looking forward to enhancing their testing chambers by incorporating the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices based on the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed satisfaction in taking their partnership with EMITE to a higher level. This collaboration ensures that EMITE's customers can have confidence in deploying their devices equipped with the latest technologies, as their products have undergone thorough testing to ensure they meet top standards of reliability and efficiency. This is achieved through the incorporation of Rohde & Schwarz's trusted R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio.
